Acceptable Use Policy
Updated August 19, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes activities that are prohibited when using Builder.io's Services, including any website, application, API, database, or other property that you build, host, or deploy using the Services (a "Customer Application"). This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of the SaaS Services Agreement. We may update this AUP from time to time; the current version is always available at builder.io/legal/aup.
1. Your Responsibility
1.1. You are responsible for your use of the Services, for any Customer Application you operate, and for the acts and omissions of your Authorized Users and anyone you allow to use your account. You must ensure that your Customer Applications and their content comply with this AUP, the Platform Rules, and all applicable laws.
1.2. You must not use the Services in any way that violates applicable law, infringes the rights of others, or that could harm Builder, the Services, other customers, or the public.
2. Prohibited Activities
You will not, and will cause your Authorized Users not to, use the Services to, and you will not permit any Customer Application to:
2.1 Security and Integrity
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, network, or data, including the Services or a Customer Application, or to bypass or defeat any security or authentication measure;
- create, upload, host, distribute, or link to malware, ransomware, spyware, or other malicious code through the Services or any Customer Application;
- conduct phishing, credential harvesting, spoofing, or any activity designed to deceive users into disclosing sensitive information through the Services or any Customer Application;
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services or any Customer Application, including through denial-of-service attacks, excessive automated requests, or cryptocurrency mining;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services without Builder's prior written authorization.
2.2 Content and Conduct
- host, transmit, or distribute content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or that incites violence or unlawful acts;
- infringe the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party (see also the DMCA Policy at builder.io/legal/dmca);
- impersonate any person or entity, or publish one-to-one copies of existing brands' sites to deceive;
- publish or distribute spam, chain messages, or unsolicited bulk communications;
- operate or facilitate an illicit marketplace, or any service whose primary purpose is to enable the anonymous purchase, sale, or exchange of illegal goods, services, stolen data, or stolen credentials;
- host or operate infrastructure that facilitates criminal activity, including command-and-control servers, services designed to evade law enforcement, or services used to launder proceeds of crime;
- host, display, distribute, or generate adult, sexual, or sexually suggestive content of any kind, including pornography, nudity, and erotic content, even where such content involves only consenting adults and is otherwise legal;
- host or distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Such activity will be reported to the appropriate authorities and result in immediate account termination.
2.3 Data and Privacy
- collect, store, or process End-User Personal Data without a lawful basis and an appropriate privacy notice;
- submit or process Prohibited Data in violation of Section 4 of the SaaS Services Agreement;
- sell, scrape, or harvest personal information of individuals without their consent or a lawful basis.
3. Fake and Fraudulent Services
The following are prohibited outright — no exceptions for licensing or certification:
- falsely offering financial services, such as fake crypto-wallets, payment services, banking, lending, or investment offerings;
- impersonating or falsely representing affiliation with any financial institution, government body, or regulated entity.
4. Regulated and Age-Restricted Services
You may build Customer Applications offering regulated or age-restricted goods or services — such as gambling, financial services, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, or controlled substances — only if you hold all licenses, certifications, and approvals required by applicable law. Builder takes you at your word, but we may verify: we may ask you to prove your licensing at any time, and may suspend or take down your Customer Application immediately if we believe it is operating without the proper licenses, until you provide satisfactory evidence. The burden of proof is on you.
5. Enforcement
5.1. Builder may investigate any suspected violation of this AUP and may take any action we deem appropriate, including removing content, disabling or suspending Customer Applications, or terminating accounts.
5.2. Enforcement actions are described in the Suspension, Takedown and Data-Handling Policy at builder.io/legal/takedown.
5.3. To report a violation, email abuse@builder.io.
