CallRail’s marketing website team needed to manage their content and web design effectively in order to generate more leads. However, they were restricted by a rigid CMS that required coding knowledge to make even the smallest change to CallRail's pages. The only way they could make front-end adjustments to their website—page templates, color updates, image swaps, fixing typos, etc.—was to assign each task to the developer team. This led to slower overall web updates and took valuable resources away from more impactful initiatives.
This lack of flexibility made it difficult to know if their website was the best it could be. Even basic A/B tests were challenging to run, as engineers needed to code each version of the page being tested. With so much of their engineering team’s focus already on website changes, they had to limit their requests to top-priority updates.
As CallRail embarked on a comprehensive website redesign, the disadvantages of their existing CMS became glaringly apparent. Engineers needed to code every component, so the marketing team could only spot design errors once the engineers were finished. When revisions were required, the component had to go back to the engineers to be coded all over again.
Rather than continue to face the same process throughout the redesign, CallRail sought a more design-focused solution. Ultimately, their search for a more flexible and efficient CMS led them to discover Builder.

After making minor tweaks—like changing colors—they can launch the final page. Small tasks that would have taken hours to code manually are now done in minutes.
Faster processes help CallRail conduct targeted A/B tests every few weeks. They can quickly create multiple pages without impacting how visitors navigate the CallRail website. This iterative testing informs performance data that compares each variation to see what drives the most conversions over time.
